7-4, the bad guys!!!

I guess I didn't get the earlier post to go through. We lost 7-4 to Hurley. A few good things happened, but not enough to over come the bad. Few base running mistakes and a couple of pitches beat us. See you all on Thursday at Exeter.

Not a good start!!!

New face around the ball field!!!

After numerous phone calls and discussions, we are pround to have Stuart Lombard join the Purdy Eagles Baseball team. He will be the assistant coach. His duties with the ball club will be outfield coach, 1st base coach and will help monitor pitchers during the game. This will allow me to work more with the hitters, pithcers and infielders during practice and games. He comes to us from Wheaton with 4 years helping summer league teams and played for me one year while I was at Wheaton. He has been unable to be here until today due to waiting approval from the board. Hope to see you all out at the ball park this fall.

New Season!!!

As you most already know, the fall season has already started. I have been working hard this offseason as have the boys. We are ready and willing to take the next step to a state title. I would like to first state some facts about last year and then move on. We finished the year 17-8 with another conference title, a district title, along with sectional champs. We finished the year ranked 8th in the state.
Now for this year. We have 18 kids out. That is a perfect number. Scrimmages are better and practice is a lot more fun for me because I have a chance to see live situations already. No need to wait until our first game. We also have a great number of freshmen which is another good sign for the future. With the strength and leadership returning, the freshmen have a great oppurtunity to learn and play with the upperclassmen. That only makes us better as a team. We will use the fall to build and prepare the underclassmen for a tough spring schedule. Also, we will better our skills that we have been working on for the past two years. I am very excited about this year. These young men have put up an awesome baseball resume; Back to Back Conference Champs, 2007 District and Sectional Champs, numerous all conference and district honors, All State honors, and ranked 8th in the state at the end of the year. However, we as a team have set our sites high. Final Four!!!!
