9-5 loss to Catholic
Springfield Catholic came to town yesterday and handed us our second loss of the season, 9-5. I felt like we could play with the class 3 9th ranked team in the state. A few mistakes and the breaks not falling our way turned out to be the difference. Kevin Miller pitched well enough to win but earned the loss(2-1). Trent Goetz was 3-4 and Daniel Barrientos was 2-3 with a Homerun in the second inning. We start the Monett tournament on Friday with Monett at 4:30. Saturday we have East Newton and Seneca with game times being 10 and 2 respectively. See you there.

Big Win Over Sarcoxie
We beat Sarcoxie last night 19-0. Everyone got a chance to play and contribute in a big way. Mason Roller was 3 for 3 with a HR and 6 RBI's. Kevin Miller picks up the win (2-0) pitching 4 innings and striking out 6 while walking none. But the big story of the night was getting Blake Williams back from the DL. Blake had been limited to two plate appearances on the year and finally got a start yesterday and proved to be a big part of the offense. He was 3-4 with a HR and 5 RBI's. We play Jasper on Monday here at 4:30. See you there.

1 Win and 1 Loss so far this week!
Sorry for the late entry, I was busy with the field yesterday. We lost 18-6 to Lamar on Monday night. Mason Roller and Derek Fulp each had 3 hits. Mental mistakes and lack of 2 out hits were the big problem. We left 15 runners on in seven innings.
Last Night was a lot of the same with leaving runners on. However, we played defense and made the big plays when we needed to for a 7-6 win in 8 innings. Riley Veith was the hero of the night for 6 innings. He kept Blue Eye, the 4th rank team in the state, off balance and took a lead into the seventh. He left one pitch up and out over the plate, and Blue Eye scored three runs on a three run homer. Down 6-4, Mason Roller walked to lead of the seventh and then Chris Bennett hit a two run homer to tie the ball game and send it to extra innings. In the top of the 8th with Blue Eye threatening, Trent Goetz got a ground ball to Chris Bennett at third for a double play. We loaded the bases with two outs and Chris came through again. He was hit with a pitch and pushed in the winning run. Bennett ended the day with 3 RBI's. Trent Goetz and Daniel Barrientos had 2 hits apiece and Mason Roller walked 4 times with a RBI single. We play at Diamond on Thursday at 4:30. See you there.
