2009 Season Wrap Up
I know that we are still waiting on the Sportswriters All State Teams, but I thought I would kind of put an end to an incredible year. Fall (13-3) and Spring (16-6) saw 29 wins to only 9 losses. We had a championship at the Exeter tournament this fall and a Second place finish in the Monett Tournament this spring (highest finish for us in the Tournament history). We finished the year ranked 7th in the State Class 2 polls voted on by other coach's. We lost to the second place team in the state in the quarterfinal game. We beat, then ranked #4, Blue Eye in an extra inning affair that saw late inning heroics. We lost the conference crown that had been ours for three years and will work hard in getting it back next spring. We won our 3rd district in as many years. We had 6 young men on the all conference teams. We had 5 young men on the all district teams. We had 2 young men on the all state teams. I also got the oppurtunity to help coach the West All-Stars at St. Charles MO last weekend. The great thing about that is the experience and knowledged I gained from that. I also got the chance to be in the dugout 1 more time with two of the seniors. I wish all four could have experienced that and hope the younger guys get that oppurtunity. Now I challenge you as fans and parents to comment on what your highlight of the year was to let these boys know how much they have accomplished. You can pick one of the ones above or add to the list. It was a GREAT year and one to remember. But, it was also one to build on.
