2009 Season Wrap Up
I know that we are still waiting on the Sportswriters All State Teams, but I thought I would kind of put an end to an incredible year. Fall (13-3) and Spring (16-6) saw 29 wins to only 9 losses. We had a championship at the Exeter tournament this fall and a Second place finish in the Monett Tournament this spring (highest finish for us in the Tournament history). We finished the year ranked 7th in the State Class 2 polls voted on by other coach's. We lost to the second place team in the state in the quarterfinal game. We beat, then ranked #4, Blue Eye in an extra inning affair that saw late inning heroics. We lost the conference crown that had been ours for three years and will work hard in getting it back next spring. We won our 3rd district in as many years. We had 6 young men on the all conference teams. We had 5 young men on the all district teams. We had 2 young men on the all state teams. I also got the oppurtunity to help coach the West All-Stars at St. Charles MO last weekend. The great thing about that is the experience and knowledged I gained from that. I also got the chance to be in the dugout 1 more time with two of the seniors. I wish all four could have experienced that and hope the younger guys get that oppurtunity. Now I challenge you as fans and parents to comment on what your highlight of the year was to let these boys know how much they have accomplished. You can pick one of the ones above or add to the list. It was a GREAT year and one to remember. But, it was also one to build on.

I can't believe you didn't mention the Barrientos catch in districts. Also, the outstanding role play of the younger kids that fit perfect with the leadership of the Seniors.
While the seniors did a great job, they could not have accomplished half of what they did without the younger players there to back them up and make things happen in the games. Give some credit where credit is due, coach!
I never thought this was a website for negative posts. But it seems that someone wants to put me on the spot every now and then. I have never commented to negative posts, but feel I should explain my thoughts on this one. I put this last blog to get some interaction with the fans about the good things from this spring. In that blog, you will notice I never mentioned one player by name, because the team is what I wanted to focus on. Yes, you are right, the seniors could only do so much and the under classmen stepped up to help. But why would you say I didn't give credit to them, because I was giving credit to the entire team, and if I am not mistaking, the entire team includes Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. It may be time to put an end to this blog. The last two summers has been a mess with people accusing others of stuff that should be handled in person. If anyone has a problem with something I say on here, email me or call me. jhughes@purdy.k12.mo.us 342-1312
I have been emailed before or called before and I have respect for those individuals. Just use this site to applaud the young men that this website was created for. Don't jump on me for stepping on your toes on here. Do it personally.
