Jasper put two innings together to beat us 8-6.
Jasper scored 5 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth to beat us on Monday night. After an error and a walk, Jasper went back to back homeruns to cut the lead to 5-4. Then a two out double and single tied it. They scored three runs in the sixth on only a bunt single and a couple of walks and errors. Riley Veith pitched 4 innings giving up only one hit and striking out 9. Mason Roller was 2-4 with 1 RBI coming on a solo homerun in the seventh. We get back to conference play tonight at McAuley at 4:30. Hope to see you there.

Let go team, lets get those mighty eagle bats back tonight against McAuley. We need more offense so get that hitting mentality back and rattle them bats! Have fun at the plate.
I have faith in you all so "Git R Done"
Its hard for me to believe that loseing 3 players from last years team(2 to graduation, and 1 to selfisness) can make such a big impact on a team that was very successful a year ago. I think the coaching staff and the players need to examine their efforts to make sure each one is giving 100% at all times.I am seeing to many heads hanging low. Alittle extra work from everyone will make a big difference at the plate and in the field.
Correction
Mason had 2 RBI's last night.
I think at this point in the year we are frustrated with our efforts at the plate. But last year at this time we were 6-3 after we played Jasper. I have faith in my guys, everyone of them, and I know they do too.
in reading the blog posted at 9:30 am, i can believe that losing two pitchers to graduation can hurt a team. as far as losing one to selfishness or selfisness i had to check last years roster to see who left. I notice that there were two off last years starting line-up: T.D. & B.W. who are not playing this year. I don't know why they are not playing as i do not know their situation but selfish is a harsh term and ask the coach why they are not playing or ask the kids or their parents. Maybe you can get an answer that will satisfy you. Enough of that subject. From what i seen from the game last night, you can NEVER take ANY team lightly!! I believe that Purdy will still win conference but winning districts may be tougher but not impossible. Tonight should be a turn around game for the eagles and a good time to get a big win.
I agree Coach, I have absolute confidence in our guys and staff so like I said in the first comment at 8:32, "Git R done"
Do you think we should start signing our names?
Stay positive, we all have the same goal and that is final 4 baby.

The loss of the two pitchers last year was, without a doubt, significant! But our boys this year are just as capable of winning games, so go get 'em at McAuley, boys!
I can tell you why Trenton Dailey isn't playing. He started playing baseball when he was 4 yrs old he is now 18 and sometimes kids get burned out and want to focus on something else. We were very disappointed when he decided not to play & now we are very proud of him because he is becoming his own person and not trying to following in the shadow of his brother. He knew he wasn't going to give 100% and didn't want the team to suffer because of it. He still thinks the world of Coach Hughes. I don't know if he is the one that was being called selfish but I assure you that wasn't the case. Things are no different now than they were in the fall and look how good they done. I also have confidence in them that they will all jell and get it together, then look out. Tonights the night to get back on track. GO BASEBALL EAGLES!!!
LaDonna Dailey
any inquiries about Blake Williams, if he is the one being called selfish, should be addressed to me, not on a blog. I am pretty easy to locate and i am always available for conversation.
Good Luck to the baseball Eagles for the remainder of the season
Craig Williams
I think that what is getting lost in all this mess is what is important: the guys. These young men go out there every single night and play baseball. More times than not they come out on top, which is an added bonus that comes from hard work, and is something that all the fans should be proud of. I can assure you that no one hates to lose more than the players. They are the ones putting in the practice time and take great pride in their reputations and accomplishments. As parents and fans, we need to get behind the players and coaching staff and make sure that they know we are going to be there to support them no matter what. It doesn't matter who's not playing or who graduated, the team right now is the team that we have, and we should get behind them with our support. It makes everyone feel good to see the stands full at both home and away games. Good luck baseball Eagles.
