Coach Hughes' Corner
I was sitting here thinking and was honored and moved by this one thought. There are 4 previous Purdy Baseball players that are in the process of playing college baseball right now. I know that I am not the reason for that, the hard work and dedication those 4 young men put in is the reason. The drive and lessons there parents taught them, along with the love they have for the game. They all 4 may not be getting a full ride(or even half of there tuition paid for b/c of baseball) but they are getting a chance to play baseball for 4 more years. Mason Roller is in his Senior year at Drury. He is overcoming a hand injury that cut his season short last year. Riley Veith (Sophomore school wise, Red shirt freshmen baseball wise) and Reese Stevenson (freshmen) are at University of St. Mary. Cody Hall (freshmen) is at College of the Ozarks. Good luck to these 4 young men. Remember, play hard and study harder.
I also had time to reflect on the past this summer. I want to thank everyone that has helped or assisted our baseball program in any way. From players to parents, to community members to family/friends from other communities. To the administration, teachers, and school staff. But most importantly to my wife and boys for hanging in there when I am gone. I love the fact that I can come home to share Purdy Baseball with them. Get out this Fall and catch your favorite team in action. Games start this Thursday at 4:30pm at Hurley. See you in the sun at a ballpark near you!!!!!!
